England beat Scotland in Commonwealth Games netball opener

England thrashed Scotland 74-28 in their opening group netball match at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Thursday morning.

But Serena Guthrie was forced off injured in the opening quarter, giving England a selection headache for their next Pool B fixtures.

England had established an eight-goal lead over Scotland inside the first 15 minutes, extended to 34-14 by half-time.

The Roses took their foot off the gas in the second half and cruised to an opening victory.

England play Malawi on Friday morning. The Roses previously faced the Queens in a three-match Vitality Netball International Series in November 2017, when they sealed the Series 3-0.

They then take on Uganda on Sunday, Wales on Monday and world No 2 New Zealand next Wednesday.
