Latest from Your Site News' Vik Varange, Danyal Khan, Lyall Thomas and Adrian Kajumba:

Manchester United have explored the conditions of signing Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Your Site News can reveal.

However, a deal is not expected to progress any further this month, with Brighton keen to keep him until at least the summer, when there is expected to be a market for central midfielders.

It is understood United's priority in 2026 is signing at least one - maybe even two - top central midfielders.

Their focus remains adding them in the summer, but Your Site News has already reported they may move for players this month if unique market opportunities arise.

Baleba is on a list of top targets that also includes Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Wolves' Joao Gomes.

Your Site News can also exclusively reveal United are looking at younger prospects such as Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Olympiacos' Christos Mouzakitis.

Your Site News has also reported this week that they are continuing to assess forward options, with Antoine Semenyo seemingly destined for Manchester City, and are monitoring the situations around players like and Yan Diomande.

Your Site News also exclusively revealed on Thursday that they are scouting potential centre-back targets ahead of the summer including

Glasner: I should have been more vocal about signing players in the summer

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has admitted that he should have been more vocal with the board about signing players in the summer after underestimating their hectic winter schedule.

The games have come thick and fast for Palace with Glasner having to juggle Europe, the Premier League and the Carabao Cup in the build-up to the new year.

The FA Cup holders have also had to deal with injuries, with the likes of Daniel Munoz, Daichi Kamada and Chris Richards among those dealing with fitness problems.

Palace have since secured their first transfer of the January window after confirming the arrival of club-record signing Brennan Johnson in a 35m deal from Tottenham.

Asked about managing his team through the festive period, Glasner said: "I may have underestimated, to be honest, I think I have experience when a team plays international football but not with this intensity and no break over Christmas.

"It's different with Frankfurt and also Wolfsburg, it's a little bit different because of COVID, but especially with Frankfurt, then you always have three weeks in winter, no game, and you have ten days off, and they completely recharge psychologically. Here, it's maybe one of our most intense periods.

"We are fortunate, I think, really, not having many muscle injuries. We've had some knocks.

"To be honest, we hoped, in the preparation, that maybe Chadi Riad, or Cheick Doucoure could be available around Christmas, but now, unfortunately, especially for them, it doesn't work.

"So, and then, I'm talking about five, six players, and that's, I  think, why the situation is how it is.

"I think it's nobody to blame. Maybe we should have added one or two more players, with all the circumstances, but like always, I'm always looking in the mirror.

"I should have considered more of these injuries, because then I would have beenharsher on gettingone or two more players in."
