Moyes: If we find right players then we could make signings

Icon

Everton boss David Moyes says he will only turn to the January market for the right player.

The Toffees have been dealing with a shortage of numbers, with Kiernan Dewsbury-HallJarrad Branthwaite, Seamus Coleman and Charly Alcaraz all currently sidelined, while Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye both at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Our squad at the moment is really short, weve got a lot of injuries, Moyes said. We had a great result in midweek but weve not got enough players at the moment and were really short.

Weve got to get them back from injury and back from AFCON, and weve brought in Harrison so were finding ways of supplementing the squad and well need to do that to try and get through this busy period

I think if we found the right players and the players we want, we could (make signings). I think the club, the board, have all been really supportive in saying yes, but I think finding the right players is the hard bit.

Charlotte interested in Elliott as Villa look to cut loan short

Latest from Your Site News' Zinny Boswell:

Charlotte FC are interested in signing Harvey Elliott.

The MLS is one of the only places Elliott can play this season if he is to leave Aston Villa, where he is on loan from Liverpool

That is because he has played for both Premier League teams this season and although he can join a third, he cannot be registered unless it is in a new league season.

The only top leagues doing that before the summer are MLS in the United States and the Scandinavian leagues.

Charlotte would need to loan out or sell Liel Abada, however, in order to register Elliot in their Designated Player slot.

Your Site News revealed earlier today that Abada has options in the Championship, including Coventry and Swansea

Elliott joined Villa in the summer on a loan deal that becomes permanent for 35m if he plays a certain number of matches, but boss Unai Emery admitted earlier this week that the club "decided two months ago we were not convinced to sign him, spending the money we need."

Emery also said the club want to be respectful to Elliott and help him find a solution.

Charlotte FC are currently managed by former Villa head coach Dean Smith.

Burnley boss Parker plans for 'reactive' January window

Icon

Burnley boss Scott Parker is expecting a busy January transfer window at Turf Moor, with players heading in both directions.

The Clarets relegation battle has been hit by a spate of injuries to key players, while others are on Africa Cup of Nations duty and remain unavailable, leaving Parker to consider his transfer options.

He told a press conference: I think there is an opportunity for us and there is a lot of dynamics and I can only name a 25-man squad. Its not as easy as bringing in five players, as I need to think about who is coming and who is going.

We will try and be reactive to long-term injuries. We will work through it in this window.

When asked if he expected some outgoings, Parker said: I think so, we have a big squad and thats without players who are out on loan and there will be players who want or need football, so this window is an opportunity for them to get that.

This window is always a difficult window. In an ideal world we would love to bring players in as early as we can.
